The Dreel Tavern
Anstruther
As you head out of Anstruther towards Pittenweem the Dreel Tavern is on the right. Entering through the front door of the traditional stone frontage you will find a cosy bar, comfortable dining area, airy conservatory dining room and outside seating, excellent service...and outstanding food.
Go there!
A number of our guests have and they have all highly recommended it.
Anstruther Fish Bar
Famed for the quality of its food and having won a number of awards the Anstruther Fish Bar is certainly worth a visit.
However, its reputation does mean that it can be very busy (there is often a queue for both take away or eat in) and while the service is excellent it is a shame that food is served on paper plates.

The Wee Chippy
Anstruther
The less well known of the Chip Shops on Antruther's Shore Street the Wee Chippy is certainly worth a visit.
Take away of course but also a welcoming atmosphere inside with a touch of tradition in metal plates and cups.
It's probably our preferred chippy in Anstruther.
The Wee Chippy
Anstruther
Possibly less well known than the fish bar but just as much of an award winner, the Wee Chippy is definitely worth a visit.
As well as take away you'll find a welcoming atmosphere inside although sadly the metal tableware seems to have been discontinued on our last visit; possibly due to rust?.
It's definitely our chippy of choice in Anstruther.

The Bank
Anstruther
Situated on High St Anstruther The Bank's appearance from the front isn't impressive and the bar area which the main door leads into is dark and not particularly inviting.
However, the conservatory style restaurant at the rear is bright and welcoming, with views towards the Esplanade and harbour. The food is good (they do a particularly nice breakfast) and prices reasonable.

The Rockies
Anstruther
Situated with the Anstruther Golf Club clubhouse The Rockies is a small, intimate restaurant with views out through a panoramic window towards the isle of May. There is a varied menu with daily specials and from our experience the food is excellent.
Parking is available in the golf club car park from where you can follow the fife coastal path for a post dinner stroll.
Strongly recommended!
The Waterfront
Anstruther
The Waterfront is extremely well located on Shore Street looking out across Anstruther Harbour.
The atmosphere inside is pleasant and the service friendly.

Forgan's
St Andrews & Broughty Ferry
Two of our favourite restaurants are Forgan's at St Andrews and Broughty Ferry on the outskirts of Dundee.
Both offer excellent food and a really atmospheric environment in which to enjoy your meal.
We found the service at both venues to be excellent as well.
Harbour Gallery and Tea Room
Crail
A lovely intimate (snug) tea room/cafe with views out across the Forth to the Isle of May. With a varied menu the Harbour Tea Room is a great little place to enjoy a coffee or light lunch before or after a leisurely walk along the Fife Coastal Path.
Well worth a visit.

Bread and Butter
Anstruther
Opened around 2020 and only a short walk from the main harbour on Shore Street, Bread and Butter great for a light lunch, snack or just a coffee. It has a cosy atmosphere with friendly staff and the food is excellent.
Watch out also for live music evenings which promise to be lively!
East Pier Smokehouse
St Monans
The East Pier Smokehouse has been included by The Guardian in its list of the 22 best places to eat seafood if you enjoy quality fish. You can read the article here - the Smokehouse is number 20 on the list. We tried the cafe on the first floor. While the feel is rustic the views are great, the service friendly and the local produce tasty. Well worth a visit.

The Ship Inn
Elie
Overlooking the beach The Ship Inn offers excellent food in a cosy atmosphere.
The bar is snug with cardboard games, often played by customers in front of the open fire and wood burners. The menus offer a good variety of food and as with many of the restaurants in the area, specialising local fish and produce.
The Grind Coffee
Cellardyke
Perfectly located on the coastal path, overlooking the tidal pool, playpark, and immediately adjacent to the activity centre, The Grind is a great place to take a break and enjoy a coffee and crêpes or waffle while gazing out across towards the Isle of May.

The Cocoa Tree Cafe
Pittenweem
Otherwise known as the Pittenweem Chocolate Company, yes you've guessed it, this is a chocolate shop disguised as a cafe and it is well worth a visit. The atmosphere is cosy and the food simple and delicious...and the chocolate is chocolaty!.
If you like chocolate you'll love this place
The Shoregate
Crail
The Shoregate offers a modern and bright restaurant together with an atmospheric bar. The food is outstanding as is the service. While not the cheapest place to eat it is nevertheless worth going to if you fancy treating yourself.

The Haven
Cellardyke
A short 5 to 10 minute walk from Maeyar The Haven pub and restaurant offers a homely atmosphere with good pub food. Very much a local pub it has a good local vibe for those who enjoy somewhere a little less touristy than other places.. Recommended by a number of our guests.
The Bothy
St Andrews
We found this on a best places to eat in St Andrews website...and it must be just that. Prices are highish but the food is outstanding, the service excellent and the atmosphere relaxed.
Highly recommended!

The Giddy Gannet
St Monans
A lovely little cafe with a cosy atmosphere, good coffee and excellent cakes and pastries,
Highly recommended!
The Bowhouse
St Monans
Situated off the main road between St Monans and Elie The Bowhouse incorporates a farmshop, cafe and concessionaries all selling local produce. The cafe offers particularly good pastries and cakes but the real reason for visiting is the market, held on the second weekend of the month (except January) where you can explore the best in local food, drink and craft as well as enjoy one of a number of street food stalls together with live music under a marquee attached to the main barn. One of our favourite places to go.
